Dear Historians,

Are you interested in teaching K-12 History or Social Studies? Would you like to learn more about teaching in general and what your options are? If so, we encourage you to check out UW's College of Education's website on teaching preparation, which includes the various programs they offer, here: https://education.washington.edu/programs/teacher. We also suggest that you check out and attend the information sessions that they offer (https://education.washington.edu/calendar) as well as the list of requirements for admission to their graduate teaching programs (https://education.washington.edu/admissions/graduate/requirements).

You can contact UW's College of Education to learn more about how to become a teacher and what programs they offer at edinfo at uw.edu<mailto:edinfo at uw.edu>.

Please note that if you plan to teach History and/or Social Studies at the K-12 level, you will need to complete the History and/or Social Studies teaching endorsement requirements, which you can learn about here: https://history.washington.edu/secondary-teaching-endorsements. I'm also including the lists of History and Social Studies endorsement requirements at the very bottom of this email - please note that multiple courses may be able to satisfy many of these requirements, so we encourage you to check in with a History advisor to evaluate your credits and plan out future courses. You can schedule a History and/or Social Studies endorsement evaluation here: https://history.washington.edu/advising.

For any questions about the History and/or Social Studies endorsement, please email histadv at uw.edu<mailto:histadv at uw.edu>. For any questions about teaching and UW's teaching programs, please email edinfo at uw.edu<mailto:edinfo at uw.edu>.

Thank you!
