Dear Colleagues (with apologies if you are receiving this from multiple sources),
With election day just around the corner, I encourage you to share the information below and to attend as many of the lectures in the “Democracy in Focus” series as possible. Details are below. This is an important opportunity to engage our community in conversations with national experts and to mobilize participation in this election.
My sincere thanks go to the speakers from our college---Professors Ralina Joseph, Mark Smith, Carmen Gonzalez, Margaret O’Mara, Jessica Beyer, Daniel Bessner, and James Long for lending their time and expertise to this series. I also wish to thank Divisional Dean of Social Sciences Andrea Woody, CAS Director of Marketing and Communications Lance Kissler, and CAS Manager of Special Projects and Initiatives Greta Essig for their many efforts to bring this series to fruition in collaboration with the provost and our colleagues in the Evans School, the Law School, and the Information School.
With best wishes,
Dianne
The Democracy in Focus lecture series is scheduled for every Tuesday at 4 p.m. from Oct. 1 to 29. The series is geared towards UW students (free snacks!); however, anyone is welcome to join in person or via the live stream. The series spans UW partners, including the College of Arts & Sciences, the Evans School, the School of Law, and the Information School, with support from the Office of the Provost.
Please help spread the word about the event to our community by sharing with students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors. Advance registration is encouraged.
Note: The Nov. 7 public engagement event at Town Hall Seattle will have registration available soon.
